Motor Trend is an American automobile magazine. It first appeared in September 1949, issued by Petersen Publishing Company in Los Angeles, and bearing the tag line "The Magazine for a Motoring World". Petersen Publishing was sold to British publisher EMAP in 1998, who sold the former Petersen magazines to Primedia in 2001. As of 2007, it is published by Source Interlink. It has a monthly circulation of over one million readers.
One of the earliest and most enduring of the magazine's creations was its Car of the Year award, given almost continuously since its inception, although the phrase itself would not become entrenched until well into the 50s. The first winner was the 1949 Cadillac; the company turned it down. The award has gone through several splits and permutations over the years, being called the Golden Wheels Award for a while in the 70s and having given rise to Truck of the Year and Import Car of the Year as well as SUV of the Year. Nevertheless, it is still coveted by manufacturers and is usually covered by the mainstream press as the most important distinction awarded in the American auto industry.

We've reached the final day of 2014 SEMA Week brought to you by 76, and only we would dare to bring this ridiculous mix of vehicles together for a grudge race on an unprepped airport runway. Fred Williams, Jessi Lang, Mike Sabounchi and Mike Finnegan begged and bribed SEMA Show exhibitors to loan them vehicles for a ¼ mile drag race and, though Finnegan and Sabounchi failed, the group still managed to acquire a Jeep riding on tank treads, a fresh-off-the-floor 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, the infamous Hemi-powered ’55 Chevy Bel Air from Roadkill, and a turbocharged 2013 Chevy Sonic to do battle.
The racers are as different as the cars. Finnegan lives in the world of hot rods, Lang regularly pilots the best the OEM carmakers have to offer, Williams spends all of his time in the dirt, and Sabounchi hops up every compact car on the planet. Who will come out on top? Watch and find out!

The Porsche Panamera Turbo has long been one of Motor Trend's favorites. Massive, ferocious, surprisingly nimble, and if your checkbook's got the overhead, totally luxurious. But don't discount Audi. Ever since the S8 showed up, Audi has shocked the car world by making such a big car so dang fast. The only thing that could even compete was the Panamera Turbo. The RS7 comes with an even more powerful version of the familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 -- 560 horsepower to be exact. For 2014, Porsche's seemingly underrated 4.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 is up 20 hp to a more-than-modest 520 hp. Faced with tough choices after the two hit the test track and a canyon road, Jonny enlists the help of resident Motor Trend Hot Shoe Randy Pobst to figure out which super sedan is best.

We've reached the final day of 2014 SEMA Week brought to you by 76, and only we would dare to bring this ridiculous mix of vehicles together for a grudge race on an unprepped airport runway. Fred Williams, Jessi Lang, Mike Sabounchi and Mike Finnegan begged and bribed SEMA Show exhibitors to loan them vehicles for a ¼ mile drag race and, though Finnegan and Sabounchi failed, the group still managed to acquire a Jeep riding on tank treads, a fresh-off-the-floor 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, the infamous Hemi-powered ’55 Chevy Bel Air from Roadkill, and a turbocharged 2013 Chevy Sonic to do battle. The racers are as different as the cars.
